ينَمنِم عَنبَراً في صَحن عَسْجَدْ

One with cheek-down served me golden wine—

The languid one made me drink pure wine

down that embroiders ambergris on a platter of gold—

That bubbles ambergris in a chalice of ivory,

وحَيّا باللآلئ في صِدافٍ

وحَيّا باللآلئ في صِدافٍ

مِنَ الياقوتِ طُرِّز بالزَّبَرْجَد

مِنَ الياقوتِ طُرِّز بالزَّبَرْجَد

and greeted me with pearls in shells

Adorned with pearls in a goblet

of ruby, embroidered with emerald.

Of ruby inlaid with emeralds.
