بنور الدّين رُوِّض كُلُّ مَحْلٍ

بنور الدّين رُوِّض كُلُّ مَحْلٍ

من الدُّنيا وجُدِّد كلُّ بالِ

من الدُّنيا وجُدِّد كلُّ بالِ

Through Nur al-Din every barren tract

Through Nur al-Din, every barren tract was made verdant,

in this world became a garden, and every heart was renewed.

in the world, and every worn-out thing was renewed.

أقام على ثنيّة كلِّ خوفٍ

أقام على ثنيّة كلِّ خوفٍ

سُهاداً بات يكْلأُ كُلَّ كالِ

سُهاداً بات يكْلأُ كُلَّ كالِ

At every pass of peril he took his stand;

He stationed at the mountain pass of every fear

sleepless, he spent the night guarding every weary soul.

a sleepless watch, guarding every weary one all night.

وَصَوَّبَ عدلُهُ في كلِّ أوْب

وَصَوَّبَ عدلُهُ في كلِّ أوْب

فعَوَّض عاطلاً منه بحالِ

فعَوَّض عاطلاً منه بحالِ

His justice guided him aright at every turn,

And his justice rained down in every direction,

and so replaced one bereft of it with one richly endowed.

thus replacing what was bare of it with what was adorned.

يُنَكِّسُ رأيُهُ رأيَ المحامي

يُنَكِّسُ رأيُهُ رأيَ المحامي

ويَقْتُلُ خوفُهُ قبل القتالِ

ويَقْتُلُ خوفُهُ قبل القتالِ

His judgment makes the defender’s judgment bow,

His counsel overturns the defender's counsel,

and fear of him kills before battle begins.

and dread of him kills before the battle.

لَقَد أَحصدْتَ للإِسلامِ عِزّاً

لَقَد أَحصدْتَ للإِسلامِ عِزّاً

يفوت سَنَامُه يَدَ كلِّ قالِ

يفوت سَنَامُه يَدَ كلِّ قالِ

Indeed, you have secured for Islam a glory

You have indeed secured for Islam a glory

whose pinnacle eludes the hand of every foe.

whose summit lies beyond every hater's hand.

وَأَصبَحتِ العَواصمُ مُلحفاتٍ

وَأَصبَحتِ العَواصمُ مُلحفاتٍ

عصاماً غير مُنْتَكِثِ الحبالِ

عصاماً غير مُنْتَكِثِ الحبالِ

And the protecting fortresses have come to enfold

And al-Awasim, the strongholds, are now cloaked

a safeguard whose cords can never unravel.

in a protective bond whose cords do not unravel.
