Say to Ibn Yahya the words of one not astray:
Bear witness henceforth that I am from Hama.

Not a worthless Rafidite, setting up against the—
two shaykhs a market of slander, but an Umayyad.

Since I settled in Aleppo, I have not benefited,
even for an eye-blink, from being an Alid,

فالرِّزقُso sustenance لاnot مُصقبٌnearby ولاnor أُمَمٌwithin easy reach
فالرِّزقُ لا مُصقبٌ ولا أُمَمٌ

So sustenance is neither nearby nor within easy reach,
so much so that it seems I was created misshapen.
