وَحَرّر الصَّيْرفيُّ الوَزْنَ وَاِحتاطا
As though his cheeks were two dinars that had been weighed,
Her cheeks are like two gold coins precisely weighed,
And the money-changer had determined the weight precisely and taken care;
The assayer etched the weight with great care.
فَخفَّthen it was lighter إحداهماone of the two عَنthan وَزْنِthe weight of صاحِبِهِits companion
فَخفَّ إحداهما عَن وَزْنِ صاحِبِهِ
فَحَطَّso he placed فوقatop الذيthe one that قدalready خفَّwas lighter قيراطاa carat (a small weight)
فَحَطَّ فوق الذي قد خفَّ قيراطا
Then one was lighter than its companion,
One fell short of its companion by weight,
So he placed a carat atop the one that was lighter.
So it placed upon the lighter one a qirat.
