وماand not عَجبيmy wonder إلاexcept لذيat one possessing الجهلignorance أنهthat he
وما عَجبي إلا لذي الجهل أنه
يُؤَمِّلhe hopes for فيin الأعداءthe enemies رَأيَthe counsel of الأَصادِقِthe true friends
يُؤَمِّل في الأعداء رَأيَ الأَصادِقِ
And I marvel only at the ignorant man, who
I wonder only at the ignorant one who
hopes to find in enemies the counsel of true friends.
expects sincerity from his enemies
