اثنان لم ينكرهما منكر
بغضhatred of ابىAbu اسحاقIshaq والموتand death
بغض ابى اسحاق والموت
Two things no denier has denied:
Two deniers none denies-
Hatred of Abu Ishaq, and death.
Hatred of Abu Ishaq and death;
ويدعىand he claims العلمknowledge علىdespite أنهthe fact that he
ويدعى العلم على أنه
قدalready طارhas flown بالجهلfor ignorance لهfor him صوتa reputation
قد طار بالجهل له صوت
And he claims knowledge, although
Yet claims he has knowledge when
his fame for ignorance has already flown far.
Ignorance makes his voice ring out.
لاnot يلتقىhe meets والعلمand knowledge فىin مجلسa gathering
لا يلتقى والعلم فى مجلس
أوor (here: unless) يلتقىmeet الادراكattainment والفوتand failure to attain
أو يلتقى الادراك والفوت
He and knowledge do not meet in one gathering,
Never knowledge and he in counsel meet,
unless attainment and failure to attain meet.
Nor understanding, but loss and defeat.
