  1. تولى شباب كنت فيه منعما

    تروح وتغدو دائم الفرحات

    Gone is the youth in which you lived in ease,

    Going out at evening and morning, ever joyful.

  2. فلست تلاقيه ولو سرت خلفه

    كماسار ذو القرنين فى الظلمات

    So you will not meet it, even if you journey after it,

    As Dhu al-Qarnayn journeyed through the darkness.
