قُلsay لهذاto this الحمامِthe dove إنif جَهِلَis ignorant of الحبِّlove
أناI واقفٌacquainted علىwith عرفانِهknowledge of it
Say to this dove, if he is ignorant of love:
Say to this dove who is ignorant of love
"I am well acquainted with it."
I know of his passion
لمhas not تُصبهُafflicted him النّوىseparation بفقدانِwith the loss of خلِّa dear friend
فيُرىso he is seen باكياًweeping علىover فقدانِهlosing him
Separation has not afflicted him with the loss of a dear friend,
The intention did not afflict him with the loss of a friend
so that he might be seen weeping over losing him.
So he cries for what he has lost
فَشداthen he sang فيon قضيبِa bough أيكٍa grove يُعلَيlifts
هِhim ويُدنيهِand brings him near أرضَهُits ground منbecause of ليانِهits suppleness
Then he sang upon a woodland bough that lifts
So he ties himself to a flexible stick and lifts himself
him and brings him near the ground below through its suppleness.
And brings his land near from its lowness
وكأنّand as though الرذاذَthe drizzle فوقupon جناحيtwo wings
هِhis جمانٌpearls يروقُdelight the eye عندwhen اقترانِهthey are joined together
And it is as though the drizzle upon his two wings
And as if the spray above his wings
were pearls that delight the eye when joined together.
Is a cup that pleases when joined
