ويسَلِّ فيهِ من العِنَبِ الغضِّ
شبيهُresembling العُنابِjujubes فيin الاحمرارِredness
شبيهُ العُنابِ في الاحمرارِ
And [in a basket?] are some fresh grapes,
In it is poured from the fresh grapes
Like jujubes in their redness.
Red like the fox's grape,
رقٌhas grown thin منهُof it أديمهُits skin فَهوَso it is كالياlike ruby (word continues)
رقٌ منهُ أديمهُ فَهوَ كاليا
قُوتِcompletes 'ruby' يُستامُis offered for sale بينbetween أيديthe hands of التِّجارِthe merchants
قُوتِ يُستامُ بين أيدي التِّجارِ
Their skin has grown thin, so they are like ruby—
Its hide is soft leather, it is like an ibex
Offered for sale before the merchants.
Fed between the merchants' hands,
وغَذَتهُand nourished it الأيامُthe days فَهوَso it is أنابيtubes (word continues)
وغَذَتهُ الأيامُ فَهوَ أنابي
بcompletes 'tubes' طوالlong علىupon جفانٍgrapevines قِصارِshort
ب طوال على جفانٍ قِصارِ
And the days have nourished them, so they are tubes—
And the days have fed it, so it is now teeth
Long, upon short vines.
