وليسand is not انبساطيmy familiarity فيin عُلاكَyour exalted stature مُثقلاًburdensome
وليس انبساطي في عُلاكَ مُثقلاً
كغيريlike others besides me ولكنbut نيكَunclear as written جوهرُthe essence منطِقيmy speech
كغيري ولكن نيكَ جوهرُ منطِقي
And my familiarity before your exalted stature is not burdensome,
My joy in your heights is not burdened
as others’ is; but [unclear word] is the essence of my speech.
Like others’, but the essence of my reason is benevolent.
فماfor … not أسالُI ask for الحاجاتِneeds إلاّexcept كأنّماas though
فما أسالُ الحاجاتِ إلاّ كأنّما
حيائيmy bashfulness علىupon وجهيmy face حُسامٌa sharp sword بمفرقيat the crown of my head
حيائي على وجهي حُسامٌ بمفرقي
For I never ask for what I need except as though
So I only ask for necessities as though
my bashfulness upon my face were a sharp sword at the crown of my head.
My shyness were a sword-blade on my temple.
