وبَينيand between me وبينَand between المُستقلّةِthe departing woman بالنّوىinto the distance
وبَيني وبينَ المُستقلّةِ بالنّوى
دمُوعيmy tears ونورٌand a light ساطعٌshining تحتَbeneath بُرقُعِa face veil
دمُوعي ونورٌ ساطعٌ تحتَ بُرقُعِ
And between me and her who departs into the distance
Between my intention and independence
Are my tears and a light shining beneath a face veil.
My tears shine bright beneath the veil
كأنas though دمُوعيmy tears حاسدتنيenvied me فلمso did not تَدعlet
كأن دمُوعي حاسدتني فلم تَدع
لواحظَglances عَينيof my eye أنto تُودّعهاbid her farewell معيwith me
لواحظَ عَيني أن تُودّعها معي
As though my tears envied me, and so did not let
As though my tears envied me and would not let
The glances of my eye bid her farewell with me.
My eyes bid them farewell with me
