تبسّمُshe smiles عنrevealing ومضٍa flash منof البرقِlightning خاطفِfleeting
تبسّمُ عن ومضٍ من البرقِ خاطفِ
And a rumbling, dusky cloud turned in the sky,
Soft and gentle in the air like shining stars
Smiling to reveal a fleeting flash of lightning.
A smile flashes like lightning in the dark
تزفُّushers along بهاwith her ريحُwind الصِّباthe east wind غيرexcept أنّهاthat she
تزفُّ بها ريحُ الصِّبا غير أنّها
وتهاديand the swaying gait الخودِof the lovely maiden بينamong الوصائفِthe maidservants
وتهادي الخودِ بين الوصائفِ
The east wind ushers her along, yet she
The morning breeze carries her along
Moves with a lovely maiden’s swaying gait among the maidservants.
