طَيلَسانيmy shawl طائرٌflying منfrom نَفَسيmy breath
طَيلَساني طائرٌ من نَفَسي
هوit فَوقيabove me غَبَشٌhaze فيin غَلَسِpredawn gloom
هو فَوقي غَبَشٌ في غَلَسِ
My shawl flutters with my breath.
A bird of my breath flew from me,
It is a haze above me in the predawn gloom.
Above me is a speck in the blue.
والذيand the one who ألَفهُpieced it together ألّفهُfashioned it
والذي ألَفهُ ألّفهُ
منfrom هواءِair فارغٍempty أوor نَفَسِa breath
من هواءِ فارغٍ أو نَفَسِ
And the one who pieced it together fashioned it
That which I befriended, I befriended
from empty air, or a breath.
