واثن المَطيَّ قليلاً

على المُحبِّ العَميد

And turn the riding camels a little

toward the love-stricken lover.

بَلى بسَلع حَبيبٌ

بَلى بسَلع حَبيبٌ

لقاؤُه يومُ عيد

لقاؤُه يومُ عيد

Yes, at Salʿ there is a beloved;

meeting him is a feast day.

بلِّغه أنّي طريحٌ

بلِّغه أنّي طريحٌ

على تِلاعِ زُرود

على تِلاعِ زُرود

Tell him that I have lain prostrate

upon the hills of Zarūd,

مِن يَوم ذاك التَجنّي

مِن يَوم ذاك التَجنّي

وعهدِ ذاكَ الصُدود

وعهدِ ذاكَ الصُدود

since the day of that unjust reproach

and the time of that rejection.
