ما نَظَرتْ مُقلَتيِ إلى أَحَدٍ

ما نَظَرتْ مُقلَتيِ إلى أَحَدٍ

إلاَّ وكُنْتَ الذي يُحَاذيِها

إلاَّ وكُنْتَ الذي يُحَاذيِها

My eye never looked upon anyone

My eyes have looked upon no other

without you being the one facing it;

But you, who is always beside them.

ولا اكْتَسَتْ بالرّقَادِ آوِنَةً

ولا اكْتَسَتْ بالرّقَادِ آوِنَةً

إلاَّ وكُنْتَ الذي يُنَاجِيْها

إلاَّ وكُنْتَ الذي يُنَاجِيْها

nor did it clothe itself in sleep for a while

And in sleeplessness they have found

without you being the one whispering to it.

No comfort but your whispering.
