وسُحقاً لدنيا غيّرت كلَّ إنسانِ
May the days after Ibn Dhakwan be blotted out!
Sorrow upon the days after Ibn Dhakwan
And perdition to a world that has changed every person!
And woe to a world that has changed every human

تميزdistinguishes أحزانيmy sorrows وتعربُand speaks عنof شانيmy plight
تميز أحزاني وتعربُ عن شاني
I shall weep blood after tears, with a tear
I will cry blood after tears with regret
that sets my sorrows apart and speaks of my plight.
That distinguishes my sorrows and expresses my condition

And indeed, my living on today after his death
Indeed, my life today after his death
is proof that treachery lies in every person.
Is proof that betrayal is in every human

Is it true that death has extinguished the lamp of knowledge
The lamp of knowledge was truly extinguished by decay
and demolished the pillar of faith after it was built,
And the pillar of religion was demolished after construction

and the beacon of guidance was abandoned in the abode of decay,
The flag of guidance was betrayed in the abode of annihilation

والقت رؤوسُ المجدِ عنها بتيجانِ
So noble virtues tore their collars for him,
Honors have torn their robes over him
and the heads of glory cast off their crowns.
And the heads of glory have cast off their crowns
