وَطفَاءُ تكسر للجنوح جناحا
It came at evening, its breeze recalling wine—
a thick-fringed cloud, folding a wing to descend.

Darkness hid its paths, so it kindled
a lamp from its lightning to guide its way.

a camel-driver shouting whenever the clouds grew weary.

Its reaches quaking, its course is held back
by a burden; then the winds grant it release.

in sweetness, and rainclouds mirroring his generosity.

unmarked steeds, and you were made their radiant white-blazed one.

When you appeared before them at every mountain pass,
you made them forget al-Mansur and al-Saffah.
