لمَ يضِزنا تنازحُ الأبدان
And if my heart is with your heart,
If my heart resides in your heart
Why should the distance between our bodies harm us?
Why should the parting of bodies distress us

قد غدا عن محبتي ترجماني
And read, with your forgiving eye, a poem
And read with your eye of reconciliation, verses

شاكياً بعدها وأنت تراني
Say to the vicissitudes of time: “How do you see me
Tell the critic of time, how you see me
Complaining of her remoteness, while you see me?”
Complaining after it, while you see me
