يا سيّداً حاز العلا عن سادةٍ
شمّlofty الأنوفِthe noses منof الطرازthe rank الأوّلِthe first
شمّ الأنوفِ من الطراز الأوّلِ
O master who gained eminence from lords,
Proud-nosed, of the foremost rank.
حَسبيenough for me منَof الإسراعhastening نحوكtoward you أنّنيthat I
حَسبي منَ الإسراع نحوك أنّني
كنتI was الجوابthe reply معwith الرسولthe messenger المقبلِapproaching
كنت الجواب مع الرسول المقبلِ
Sufficient proof of my haste toward you is that I
