1. صلاة من الرحمن ما دام اهلال

    على المصطفي المختار والصحب والآل

    Blessings from the All-Merciful, as long as new moons appear,

    upon the Chosen One, the Elect, his Companions and his family.

  2. بباب رسول اللَه ألقيت أحمالي

    فالغيث مقصود وأنضيت أثقالي

    At the door of God's Messenger I laid down my burdens;

    for rain is what I seek, and I have cast off my heavy loads.

  3. أتيت رسول اللَه والدمع خانقٌ

    وعَبرة بالخدين والذل أبدى لي

    I came to God's Messenger, with tears choking me,

    and a tear upon my cheeks, with abasement revealed to me.

  4. أتيت نبي اللَه من طول غفلتي

    وسهدي وأخطاء كأنه اتلال

    I came to God's Prophet after my long heedlessness,

    and my sleeplessness, and errors that seemed like mounds.

  5. وأمعنت أنظاري بدنيا مهينة

    فيا رب أرجوك الخلاص واقبال

    And I fixed my gaze upon a base world;

    so, Lord, I beseech You for deliverance and acceptance.

  6. أتيت بذل وانكسار وخشية

    به أرتجي فتحاً وكشفاً وايصال

    I came with humility, brokenness, and awe;

    through him I hope for an opening, an unveiling, and attainment,

  7. وغوت لمكروبٍ وغيث لجذبة

    مفرّج لخطبٍ بحقب قد استطال

    and succor for one distressed, and rain for a drought,

    a dispeller of calamity that has dragged on for ages.

  8. أغثني حُسام اللَه انك مُنصف

    وسيف لبأساء وذي غمتي حال

    Rescue me, O sharp sword of God, for you are just,

    and a sword against adversity, a dispeller of this grief of mine.

  9. فقد قرّحن جفني السهاد وخالني

    عذولي من ضعفي كشنّ غدا بال

    For sleeplessness has made my eyelids sore, and I was thought,

    by my reproacher, in my weakness, like an old waterskin grown worn.

  10. من العتبِ لم أبرح ولا ذاك شيمتي

    ولا أخش عذالا وقيلاً ولا قال

    I have not turned away because of reproach, nor is that my nature;

    nor do I fear reproachers, or hearsay, or gossip.

  11. بحمد إله العالم الفرد منتَمي

    ومنذ علقتُ الحب لم أخش إقلال

    My allegiance lies in praise of the world's God, the One;

    and since I became attached to love, I have not feared poverty.

  12. تصبرتُ حتى قيل لن يعرف الهوى

    تجرّعت مُرّ البعد عنه وحتى لي

    I endured patiently until it was said, 'He will not know love.'

    I swallowed the bitterness of separation from him—[unclear ending: 'and until, for me'].

  13. وصلى إلهي دائماً كلّ لحظة

    على المصطفى من هديه زاح اضلال

    And may my God bless, always, at every moment,

    the Chosen One, through whose guidance misguidance vanished,

  14. وآلٍ وأصحاب بهم أرتجي المنى

    وقصد وما أهوى وسؤلي وتسآل

    and his family and Companions, through whom I hope for my wishes,

    and my aim, what I desire, my request, and my entreaty.

  15. فارجوه أن يمنح عبيداً هاشم

    وصحبي وأولادي ورهطي وأنجال

    So I hope he will grant these to a humble servant, Hashim,

    and my companions, my children, my clan, and offspring.

  16. كذاك سلام اللَه ما بارقٌ سرَي

    من الغور أو نجد لدا حبنا الغال

    Likewise, God's peace, as long as lightning travels by night,

    from al-Ghawr or Najd, beside our cherished beloved,

  17. وما ناح في الأيك الحمام وغردت

    على الورد عجماء وذا مغرم تال

    and as long as doves lament in the thickets and a song rises

    over the roses from a wordless bird, while this lover recites.

  18. صلاة على المختار ما دام اهلال

    وآل وأصحاب لهم كل افضال

    Blessings upon the Elect, as long as new moons appear,

    and his family and Companions, to whom all virtues belong.
