كَأَنْas though لَمdid not يَكُنْexist بينbetween الحُجونِal-Hajun إلىto الصَّفاal-Safa
كَأَنْ لَم يَكُنْ بين الحُجونِ إلى الصَّفا
أنيسٌa companion وَلَمْand did not يَسْمَرْconverse by night بمكَّةَin Mecca سَامِرُa night-time talker
أنيسٌ وَلَمْ يَسْمَرْ بمكَّةَ سَامِرُ
As though between al-Hajun and al-Safa there had never been
As if there had been no friend at all between Hujun and Safa,
a companion, nor had any night-time talker conversed in Mecca.
No companion who conversed at Mecca.
