دَهري وَلحمُ عِظامي اليَومَ يُعتَرَقُ
When my close friends shunned me and I was abandoned
by my fate, while the flesh on my bones is gnawed away today,

I turned toward Abu Qabus, praising him:
Indeed, commendation and praise befit him.

Easy of access, his dwelling well attended,
no day ever dawns without circles of men around him.

For the Mundhirs and for him whose locks are bound,
you are the radiance by which the horizon is illumined.
