يا لَلرّجالِ لِيَومِ الأَربَعاءِ أَما
يَنفَكُّcease يُحدِثُbring about ليfor me بَعدَafter النُهىreason طَرَباemotional agitation
يَنفَكُّ يُحدِثُ لي بَعدَ النُهى طَرَبا
O men, for the day of Wednesday! Will it never
O ye men, of Wednesday why still
cease to stir emotion in me, after sober reason?
Speak ye to me after adieu and disturb my heart
