وَلَمّا أَن رَأَيتُ سَراةَ قَومي

وَلَمّا أَن رَأَيتُ سَراةَ قَومي

مَساكى لا يَثوبُ لَهُم زَعيمُ

مَساكى لا يَثوبُ لَهُم زَعيمُ

And when I saw the nobles of my people

And when I saw the chiefs of my people

Helpless, with no leader coming to champion them.

destitute, with no leader returning to them.
