أَهلي فِداءُ بَني شَبيمٍ كُلِّهِم

أَهلي فِداءُ بَني شَبيمٍ كُلِّهِم

وَبَني الحَرامِ وَجَمعِ آلِ مُطَيِّعِ

وَبَني الحَرامِ وَجَمعِ آلِ مُطَيِّعِ

May my family be a ransom for all the sons of Shabim,

My family is the ransom for all the Banu Shaybah

And the sons of al-Haram, and the host of the house of Mutayyiʿ,

And for Banu Al-Haraam and the clan of Al Muṭayyiʿ

وَالعامِرينَ شَبابَها وَكُهولِها

وَالعامِرينَ شَبابَها وَكُهولِها

وَبَني المُسَيَّبِ يَومَ دَعوَةِ لَعلَعِ

وَبَني المُسَيَّبِ يَومَ دَعوَةِ لَعلَعِ

And the ʿAmirites, their youths and their elders,

And those who inhabit it, both its youth and elders

And the sons of al-Musayyab, on the day of the summons at Laʿlaʿ.

And Banu Musayyib on the day of Luʿluʿ's call

أَمّا بَنو عَمروٍ فَإِنَّ مَقِيلَهُم

أَمّا بَنو عَمروٍ فَإِنَّ مَقِيلَهُم

مِن ذاتِ أَصداءٍ كَسَيلِ الأَدرَعِ

مِن ذاتِ أَصداءٍ كَسَيلِ الأَدرَعِ

As for the sons of ʿAmr, indeed their noonday rest,

As for the Banu ʿAmr, their refuge

From Dhat Asdaʾ, is like the torrent of al-Adraʿ.

Is from the cliffs of resounding echoes

وَبَنو صُباحٍ أَفلَتونا عَنوَةً

وَبَنو صُباحٍ أَفلَتونا عَنوَةً

وَالكَيسُ أَينَ ما تَنَلهُ يَنفَعِ

وَالكَيسُ أَينَ ما تَنَلهُ يَنفَعِ

And the sons of Subah set us free by force;

And the Banu Ṣubāḥ have slipped away from us by force

And good sense, wherever you acquire it, is useful.

But the sensible person benefits wherever he attains
