وآليْتُ لا أعطيكَ قسْراً ظُلامةً

وآليْتُ لا أعطيكَ قسْراً ظُلامةً

ولا طائِعاً ما قدَّمَتْ رجْلَها قَدَمْ

ولا طائِعاً ما قدَّمَتْ رجْلَها قَدَمْ

And I have sworn not to grant you an unjust concession under compulsion,

I have resolved not to force darkness upon you,

nor willingly, as long as a foot steps forward;

Nor what her foot has put forth, willingly,

ولا الدهرَ حتى تمسحَ النجمَ قاعدا

ولا الدهرَ حتى تمسحَ النجمَ قاعدا

وتنْزِعَ أصلَ المرْخِ من جانِبَيْ أَصَمْ

وتنْزِعَ أصلَ المرْخِ من جانِبَيْ أَصَمْ

nor ever, until you touch the star while seated,

Nor time, even if it wipes out each star, seated,

and wrench the markh tree’s root from the two flanks of a solid mountain.

And pulls up the root of the date palm from both sides of deaf Aṣam
