أَبَتْ سُيوفُ مَذْحِجٍ وَهَمْدانْ

أَبَتْ سُيوفُ مَذْحِجٍ وَهَمْدانْ

أَن لا يَرُدّوا نَعثَلاً كَما كانْ

أَن لا يَرُدّوا نَعثَلاً كَما كانْ

The swords of Madhhij and Hamdan refused

Not to restore Naʿthal as he had been—

خَلْقاً جَديداً بَعدَ خَلقِ الرَّحمَنْ

خَلْقاً جَديداً بَعدَ خَلقِ الرَّحمَنْ

وَقَد قَضَى بِالحُكْمِ حَكْمِ الشَّيطانْ

وَقَد قَضَى بِالحُكْمِ حَكْمِ الشَّيطانْ

A new creation after the All-Merciful’s creation.

And he had judged according to Satan’s judgment,

وَفارَقَ الحَقَّ وَنورَ الإيمانْ

وَفارَقَ الحَقَّ وَنورَ الإيمانْ

فَذاقَ كَأْسَ المَوتِ شُرْبَ الظَمْآنْ

فَذاقَ كَأْسَ المَوتِ شُرْبَ الظَمْآنْ

And forsaken the truth and the light of faith.

So he tasted the cup of death as a thirsty man drinks.
