Let me render my love for you in verse,
Let me translate my love for you into poetry
And tell the people of the earth news of you.

بلاغة جاوزت قسا وبشارا
Your work has won my admiration and inspired in me
Your deeds have won my admiration, so inspire me
An eloquence surpassing Quss and Bashshar.
With eloquence beyond bitterness and good news

If compared to a machine, it surpasses its essence
In beauty, and its contents would bewilder minds.
In beauty and amazes whatever ideas it contains

Eloquent Arabic, to which ears listen in delight,
An articulate she-camel that ears listen to out of joy
Not mute if ever a spiteful foe argues.
Not mute if it unveils what it has seen

With perfume I have blended with musk and light

Have you not seen a man when his country becomes straitened
Turn his caravans and his gaze toward you?
He heads towards you anxiously and expectantly

Towards you when our time was running out

For the generous sees harm in oppression
