    فجرعه مصابك ألف صاب

    This universe was yearning for your recovery;

Then losing you made it swallow a thousand draughts of bitter sap.

And mention of you was, for all gatherings,

An adornment, in your presence and your absence.

A grave's earth was ennobled by your repose,

Near the sanctuary of the Legatee, Abu Turab.

And your grave has embraced floods of knowledge—

A brimming ocean—or the clouds' steady rains?

The narrow grave spreads wide around you,

Yet because of you, the deserts' expanses are cramped.

You have found bliss at Tasnim's sweet spring,

While our souls dwell forever in torment.

Our grief is renewed, and our hearts are

Torn by the claws of calamity.

And a summit of your glory was shattered—one that towered

Above lofty mountains and hills—by calamities.

And you truly taught humankind the laws,

And you have bereaved the Opening of the Book.
