ياO حَبَّذاhow lovely رَبيبَتيmy ward رَعومُRaʿūm
وَحَبَّذاand how lovely مَنطِقُهاher speech الرَخيمُsoft and melodious
Oh, how lovely is my ward, Raʿūm!
Oh, how I love my beloved Raoum
And how lovely her soft, melodious speech!
And how sweet is her gentle speech
وَريحُand the scent ماwhat يَأتيcomes بِهِwith it النَسيمُthe breeze
إِنّيindeed, I بِهاwith her مُكَلفُenamored أهيمُI wander in love
And the scent of what the breeze brings!
The breeze that the zephyr brings
Indeed, I am enamored of her, wandering in love.
With it I wander, obsessed, confused
لَوif only تَعلَمينَyou knew العِلمَthe truth ياO رعومُRaʿūm
إِنّيindeed, I مِنfrom هَمدانِهاher Hamdān صَميمُof pure stock
If only you knew the truth, O Raʿūm:
If only you knew, oh Raoum
Indeed, I am of pure stock from her Hamdān.
That I am sincere in my longing for you
