سقمي وآثاره الباديه
Do not ask what ails me; I have not been harmed
Do not ask me what ails me, for how could it harm me?
By my illness and its visible traces.
My sickness and its obvious symptoms.

Do not ask, this is women's deception,
Do not ask what ails me: I have only good health.
Do not ask me except about my wellbeing.

If my pains had calmed my chest,
Complain of my weakness and my pains.
I would not have complained of my weakness and my pains.

You deceived me with oaths, deceitful woman.
You tricked me with false oaths, O cheat,
How cruel you were, and how foolish I!
How harsh you were and how you fooled me.

I sipped my wine from a cup,
I thought it a light, clear wine.
Thinking it was pure limpid wine.

Would that neither the wine nor its jar had ever existed!
It was neither wine nor fermented,
The wine has already turned foul in the vessel.
The vessel had been inverted on the cup.

You are but a bloody stain.

Night made it eternal on the crown of my head,
Immortalized by the night on my hairline,
On a mad, sinful night.
On a sinful, shameless night.

In the sanctuary of the night I know it well,
On a bed that stood in the corner.
On a bed set in the corner.

Grim, wilted, withered.
Like a withered, faded tatoo.

I left you in my drunkenness waste,
The refuse of night and of my desires.
Flotsam of the night and my passions.

I sang you melodies, dancer,
From the pulse of the brook and the watercourse.

It would have danced drunk to my tunes.
