My little bird, you fly away from me—to where?
My little bird, you draw away from me—to where?
Paradise still belongs to lovers,
Paradise is still for lovers,
نورهاits light الحبّlove وذوبand molten اللجينsilver
rich with perfumes, breathing fragrance.
Rich with perfumes, wafting fragrance;
Its light is love, and its spirit is silver;
Its light is love and molten silver.

وترقدُand slumber الأحلامdreams فيin الجانبينthe two sides
our two spirits flutter over its blossoms,
Our two souls flutter over its flowers,
and dreams sleep along its two sides.
And dreams slumber on either side.

The goblets still gleam,
The cups are still sparkling;
as one who thirsts for them circles the two singers.
He who thirsts for them circles two singers.

ورعشةand the tremor of اللذةpleasure فيin الخافقينthe two beating hearts
Wedding laughter rings in its dawn,
And wedding laughter in its dawn,
and pleasure trembles in two beating hearts.
And pleasure's tremor in the two beating hearts.
للّهto God! (in wonder) إذwhen كنّاwe were وكانand was الهوىlove

What wonder, when we were together and love was
God, how wondrous it was when we were together, and love was
winged with desire in the two gazing eyes.
Winged with desire in our two glances.
أيّامthe days when كنّاwe were والهوىand love ضاحكٌlaughing

Those days when we were together, and love smiled,
The days when we were together and love was laughing,
the forests screened us from every eye.
The forests hid us from every eye.

وهزهزاتُand the tremors of الحبlove فيin الساعدينthe two forearms
Your throbbing breast was a pillow for me,
Your throbbing breast was my resting place,
and love’s tremors ran through the two arms.
And love's tremors in the two arms.

If I sipped wine, I had a spring
If I sip wine, I have a spring
in your drunken mouth and your two eyes.
In your drunken mouth and your two eyes.

Or dawn would rise upon a waking,
Or dawn rises upon awakening,
while night reclined upon two intoxications.
Night reclines upon two drunken trances.

O bright morn of dreams, O their dawn!
O bright morning of dreams, O their dawn,
O tremor of the lights in the two gazing eyes!
O tremor of lights in the two eyes.
منwho يطربdelights الغابthe woods بقيثارةwith a lyre

Who will enchant the woods with a lyre?
Who will delight the woods with a lyre?
Ah, how the woods yearn for the two singers!
Alas, the woods' longing for the singers!

Who will sing the valley its songs
Who will sing the valley its songs,
if its two birds flee the two banks?
If its two birds flee from both banks?

Who will be there for love after us, O Nada?
Who will be there for love after us, O Nada?
And what nest will bring the two nightingales together?
And what nest will gather the two nightingales?

My little bird, return to love’s nest;
My little bird, return to love's nest;
return, that we may live blissfully in its shade.
Return; let us live in its shade, both contented.
يصفّقapplauds الواديthe valley لأعراسناfor our weddings
إذwhen يسمعhears الواديthe valley صدىthe echo of القبلتينthe two kisses
The valley will applaud our wedding celebrations
The valley will applaud our weddings
when the valley hears the echo of two kisses.
When the valley hears the echo of the two kisses.
