رمضان ؛ أقفرتِ النفوسُ فَرَوِّنا

رمضان ؛ أقفرتِ النفوسُ فَرَوِّنا

حيَّاكَ ؛ فاحللْ بِالمحبةِ ههُنَا

حيَّاكَ ؛ فاحللْ بِالمحبةِ ههُنَا

Ramadan, our souls have grown barren; quench our thirst.

Welcome; settle here with love.

و لتَنثرِ الرَّحماتِ ؛ أَرَّقنا العنا

و لتَنثرِ الرَّحماتِ ؛ أَرَّقنا العنا

أطفئْ بها نيرانَ أفئدةَ الضَّنى

أطفئْ بها نيرانَ أفئدةَ الضَّنى

And scatter mercies; hardship has kept us sleepless.

With them, quench the fires in hearts worn down by suffering.

رمضان ؛ قد تاقتْ إليكَ نفوسُنا

رمضان ؛ قد تاقتْ إليكَ نفوسُنا

فارفقْ بِلوعتِها وجَدِّدْ أمنَنا

فارفقْ بِلوعتِها وجَدِّدْ أمنَنا

Ramadan, our souls have yearned for you.

So be gentle with their anguish, and renew our safety.

هذي عيونٌ قد هَمَتْ بِدُموعِها

هذي عيونٌ قد هَمَتْ بِدُموعِها

فَحريقُها أبداً غَدا مُتمَكّنا

فَحريقُها أبداً غَدا مُتمَكّنا

These eyes have streamed with their tears.

For their fire has taken hold forever.

و الأمنياتُ القابعاتُ بَكَتْ سُدى

و الأمنياتُ القابعاتُ بَكَتْ سُدى

تجري إليك تريدُ أنْ تَتَطَمَّنا

تجري إليك تريدُ أنْ تَتَطَمَّنا

And the huddled wishes have wept in vain.

They run to you, wishing to be reassured.

و النائباتُ تَمُرُّ فِي أرجائِنا

و النائباتُ تَمُرُّ فِي أرجائِنا

ضِقنا بها ذرعاً و قد طالتْ بنا

ضِقنا بها ذرعاً و قد طالتْ بنا

And calamities pass through our midst.

We can bear them no longer, and they have lingered with us so long.

رمضان ؛ هيَّا و انثرِ السَّلوى ؛ هُنا

رمضان ؛ هيَّا و انثرِ السَّلوى ؛ هُنا

بَدِّدْ سُهاداً هائماً مُتوَطِّنا

بَدِّدْ سُهاداً هائماً مُتوَطِّنا

Ramadan, come, and scatter solace here.

Dispel the wandering sleeplessness that has settled in.

هيَّا انزعِ الهَمَّ الذي مَلأَ المَدى

هيَّا انزعِ الهَمَّ الذي مَلأَ المَدى

رَشَقَ السَّكينةَ و السَّعادةَ وَ المُنَى

رَشَقَ السَّكينةَ و السَّعادةَ وَ المُنَى

Come, uproot the worry that has filled the expanse;

It has assailed tranquility, happiness, and hopes.

رمضان ؛ في ليلٍ تَلَطَّخَ بِالأسى

رمضان ؛ في ليلٍ تَلَطَّخَ بِالأسى

نحتاجُ منكَ غَمامة ًو كذا سَنَا

نحتاجُ منكَ غَمامة ًو كذا سَنَا

Ramadan, in a night stained with sorrow,

We need from you a cloud, and radiance too.

و نَلجُّ بِالنَّجوى لِنبلغَ سَعدَنا

و نَلجُّ بِالنَّجوى لِنبلغَ سَعدَنا

وَ لِقاؤُك السَّعدُ الحَبيبُ , فَكُنْ لَنا

وَ لِقاؤُك السَّعدُ الحَبيبُ , فَكُنْ لَنا

And we persist in whispered prayer to attain our happiness.

And meeting you is cherished joy; so be there for us.

نَرجوكَ يا ربَ الصَيام و ربَّنا

نَرجوكَ يا ربَ الصَيام و ربَّنا

تطوي مآسينا بهِ ؛ ننسى الوَنى

تطوي مآسينا بهِ ؛ ننسى الوَنى

We implore You, O Lord of fasting and our Lord,

To fold away our tragedies through it, so we forget our weariness.

رَبَّاه ؛ قد ضاقتْ بنا أرواحُنا

رَبَّاه ؛ قد ضاقتْ بنا أرواحُنا

ضاقتْ مسالِكُنا وَ ضِقنا بِالعَنا

ضاقتْ مسالِكُنا وَ ضِقنا بِالعَنا

O my Lord, our souls have grown too narrow for us.

Our paths have narrowed, and we are hemmed in by hardship.

رمضان ياربِّي تَجَلَّى بيننا

رمضان ياربِّي تَجَلَّى بيننا

حَمداً إليكَ بِهِ فذا نِعم الغِنَى

حَمداً إليكَ بِهِ فذا نِعم الغِنَى

Ramadan, O my Lord, has shone forth among us.

Praise to You for it—what splendid wealth this is!

أَذهِبْ بِهِ آلامَنا و هُمومَنا

أَذهِبْ بِهِ آلامَنا و هُمومَنا

بَلِّلْ بِهِ أكبادَنا وَ اسقِ الدُّنى

بَلِّلْ بِهِ أكبادَنا وَ اسقِ الدُّنى

Through it, take away our pains and our worries.

Moisten our livers through it, and give the worlds drink.

و اغفرْ بهِ زَلَّاتِنا وَ ذُنوبَنا

و اغفرْ بهِ زَلَّاتِنا وَ ذُنوبَنا

فذنوبُنا تترى تقضُّ المَأمَنا

فذنوبُنا تترى تقضُّ المَأمَنا

And through it, forgive our lapses and our sins.

For our sins come in succession, shattering our refuge.

وارفعْ بهِ دَرجَاتَنا نحوَ العُلا

وارفعْ بهِ دَرجَاتَنا نحوَ العُلا

واختمْ بهِ أيّامَنا نحوَ الهَنا

واختمْ بهِ أيّامَنا نحوَ الهَنا

And through it, raise our ranks toward the heights.

And through it, bring our days to an end that leads to bliss.
