Your morning is poetry, and a cheek turned rosy,

And a sparrow of love that sang upon the branch,

And dew, and whispers, and clouds of passion,

And dewdrops of love, and longing that echoed.

    يَطِيرُ إِلَيكَ بِقَلبٍ تَهَجَّدْ

    Your morning is roses, and dew, and rain;

It flies to you with a heart that kept vigil in prayer.

And visions gaze toward you; then yearns

For your heart my heart, in which you find joy.

Your morning is poetry, and the tender yearning of ink,

And the shades of a line, and a letter that sighed,

And the fragrances of a soul of light soar

With translucent feeling, and a chrysolite glow.

Your morning is light, and the fragrance of incense,

And sweet, pure water, like a smoothly polished palace.

    Chants from melodies of passion

Wooed you with all my feeling.

Your morning is a field of flowers; there grow

Along its two sides daisies, and they spread.

And the mint of my soul, which finds in you

A loving heart that has become one with my heart.

Your morning is the truth of certainty, a radiance,

Like the purity of covenants, something certain.

And my letter's tremor bears witness that I

Revere you—by God, O honey, He bears witness.

Your morning? Or is that the dawn of my preoccupation

With a love letter that grows intense with longing?

To give you, from the irises of my conscience,

Nectar, and a feeling embroidered and renewed.
