Sulayma resolved to depart;
Sulayma had decided to move on
so where, you say—where?
So where do you propose we go?
وَقَدand had قالَتshe said لِأَترابٍto companions of her age
لَهاof hers زُهرٍradiant تَلاقَيناthey had gathered
And she had said to companions of her own age,
She had said to the girls of her tribe
radiant ones of hers who had gathered:
Who had lovely, radiant faces:
تَعالَينَcome, you women فَقَدfor indeed طابَhas grown pleasant
لَناfor us العَيشَlife تَعالَيناcome, you women
"Come, for it has grown pleasant—
"Come, the life for us is good here
life for us—come!
So come, let us move here."

And the miser is away tonight,
The night grew dark
and the spying eye too—no spying eye remains."
And no eyes could see,

Then they came toward her,
So they came to her hurriedly,
hastening, swaying gracefully,
Moving rhythmically,
إِلىtoward مِثلِone like مَهاةِan oryx cow الرَمـbeginning of 'the sand'

toward one like an oryx of the sands,
To a place like the waving sands -
who clothes the gathering in beauty,
The dwelling place adorned.
إَلىtoward خَودٍa tender young woman مُنَعَّمَةٍpampered
حَفَفنَthey gathered بِهاaround her وَفَدَّيناand offered themselves as ransom
toward a tender, pampered young woman.
To cheeks so soft -
They gathered round her, saying, "May we be your ransom!"
We drew near and offered greetings.
تَمَّنَينَthey wished مُناهُنَّtheir wishes
فَكُنّاand we were ماwhat تَمَنَّيناthey wished for
They wished for their heart's desires,
They wished, those maidens,
and we were what they wished for.
And we became what they wished.
فَبَيناthen while ذاكَthat سُلَّمتُI gave a greeting
فَرَحّبنَthen they welcomed وَفَدَّيناand offered themselves as ransom
Then, while that went on, I gave my greeting;
While this was happening, I was welcomed -
they welcomed me, saying, "May we be your ransom!"
They bid me enter and greeted me.
