Spring lavishly watered the traces of a dwelling at Shawṭā.
Spring marched on with my abode, and mapped a dwelling
Out of love for her, I love Shawṭā, then Aljām,
More beloved to me than its love are leagues galore

Then Khākh’s valley floor, then the bends of al-‘Aqīq, for what
So it imbibed pure wine, and the carnelian's essence, because
We love, and low-lying hollows in the valley of Dhū ‘Ibrayn.
Of a passion, and from tears of the two doves a draught

A dwelling I imagined after it had decayed;
An abode which, after my affliction, I fancied
Then the dwelling’s marks entrusted you with ailments.
Thus the marks of the abode consigned you to trust
