And a trackless wasteland, where sandgrouse join its war
The lost wander aimlessly, led astray,
Against whoever crosses it, whether lost or rightly guided;
While the guided follow the righteous way.

إذا سار فيها راكب لم يغرد
Taunting the pale camels, its bounds far distant;
A desolate desert where vultures prey,
When a rider travels through it, he does not sing.
With no song for the rider passing by.
