It is the way of sharp swords to bring the distant near,
but only for one whose resolve is as keen as their edges.

that, with Him, souls are judged according to their intentions.

نزلتْ قلوبُ الرُّوم رَهْنَ شكاتها
And you made the fear of God your armor,
whose sting held the Romans’ hearts captive.

until you drove the sword into their flanks.

They thought you could not repel their champions,
since, in your generosity, you could not bear to turn their suppliants away.

The days take pride in you, fresh and new,
as fine steeds glory in the beauty of their markings.

surely guard you, a necklace at their throats.
