O Hind, a nightingale has grown fond of the leafy grove.

He sings, and the branches clap and rejoice.

The flowers adore the sweetness of his song.

So when he sings, every mouth holds a star.

And the branch and the leaves are ears for him.

What, do you think, is the breeze murmuring within them?

He is the birds' poet, neither arrogant

Nor haughty, nor enamored of authority.

And when, at midmorning, the flashes of his mouth gleamed,

He called to the troops of birds: 'Make ready!'

Then I heard music from the birds, to

Whose melodies the day comes and goes.
