أَنّى لَها الطُعمُ وَالسَلامَه
Ah, what a soul—ah, what a soul!
Oh she who longs
How can she have food and safety?
How can she enjoy peace

The men have indeed killed her brothers;
Her people have killed her brothers
In every valley, an owl's shriek.
In every valley prowling with hyenas

وَلَأَبرُكَن بِركَةَ النَعامَه
So I shall surely come upon men by night while they sleep,
So I will sneak up on the sleeping tribe
And I shall surely crouch like an ostrich,
And unleash the ferocity of an ostrich

Drawing in one leg and stretching out the other,
With one foot raised and the other planted
And the sword—I thrust it forward before him.
My sword before me
