وكلُّand every سبيلpath للوصولto arrival سرابُa mirage
وكلُّ سبيل للوصول سرابُ
I call out—and my soul, in absence, is absence itself.
I call out, and my soul, in absence, is absence.
And every path to arrival is a mirage.

تذوبmelt حروفيmy letters بينamid أنفاسbreaths وجدهاtheir rapture
تذوب حروفي بين أنفاس وجدها
ويصعدand rises منfrom وجدrapture الحروفthe letters سحابُclouds
ويصعد من وجد الحروف سحابُ
My letters dissolve amid the breaths of their ardor,
My letters melt amid the breaths of their rapture,
and from the letters’ ardor, a cloud rises.
And clouds rise from the letters' rapture.
أقولI say وقدand already حالتhas turned بيfor me الحالthe state غيبةًabsence:
أقول وقد حالت بي الحال غيبةً:
" تصاعدthe rising أنفاسيmy breaths إليكtoward you عتابُreproach"
" تصاعد أنفاسي إليك عتابُ"
I say, when the spiritual state has carried me into absence:
I say, my state having turned to absence:
“The ascent of my breaths toward you is a reproach.”
"The rising of my breaths toward you is reproach."
وكلِّيand all of me إشاراتٌsigns إذاwhen الشوقlonging شفَّنيwears me thin
وكلِّي إشاراتٌ إذا الشوق شفَّني
"وكلand all إشاراتيmy signs إليكto you خطابُa message"
"وكل إشاراتي إليك خطابُ"
All of me is signs when longing wears me thin,
And I am all signs when longing wears me thin,
“and all my signs to you are speech.”
"And all my signs are a message to you."
إذاwhen فاضتoverflow الأسرارthe secrets أخفىI am hidden بفيضهاby their flood
إذا فاضت الأسرار أخفى بفيضها
كأنيas though I were لأسرارfor the secrets الوجودexistence حجابُa veil
كأني لأسرار الوجود حجابُ
When the secrets overflow, I am more hidden in their flood,
When secrets overflow, I am hidden by their flood,
as though I were a veil upon the mysteries of existence.
As though I were a veil for the secrets of existence.
"وإنand if لاحتappear الأسرارthe secrets فهيthen they are رسائلmessages"
"وإن لاحت الأسرار فهي رسائل"
تشيرpoint إلىto منthose who فيin المسافةthe distance غابواthey have vanished
تشير إلى من في المسافة غابوا
“And if the secrets come into view, they are messages
"And if the secrets appear, they are messages"
pointing toward those who have vanished into the distance.”

خفضت جناح الصمت صمتي رسائلٌ
