وَلعينٍ شفّها طول السهَد
Who will aid a soul revisited by its sorrows,
Who has returned to a self that knew its sorrows
And an eye worn away by long sleeplessness?
And whose eyes have been closed after wakefulness?

رَحمةُ اللَّهِ على ذاكَ الجَسَد
A body wrapped in its shrouds—
A body wrapped in its shroud
May God's mercy be upon that body.
May God's mercy be upon that body

In it lies the anguish of a bereaved lord
Grief did not let him walk with a lord.
Whose cares did not let him go about freely
