You are my master, and one who

    has always been granted success—

to us, the most pleasing of those

the ear chooses, and the most skilled.

And I see what holds me together

    scattered whenever you are away;

    and Time's shirt, since

you left, has perished and grown threadbare.

Come to us: stagnant has grown

the market of delights—let it thrive.

Make the goblets ride the palm

of the gazelle, with well-aged wine.
