Ah, is there any relief from sorrows?

And is there any escape for me from sailing the sea?

    Does every crooked life plunge

with us into the still darkness of the depths?

As though the current's surging waves within it

were ewes flinging themselves toward ewes.

Its breast cleaves the water, pressing onward

over a swell of bitter, salty water.
