لَناwe have حَيّةٌa serpent تَنقَضُّswoops down مِنfrom رَأسِthe top of صَخرَةٍa rock
لَنا حَيّةٌ تَنقَضُّ مِن رَأسِ صَخرَةٍ
تَلَقَّمُdevours حَيّاتِthe serpents of الحُزونَةِthe rugged terrain وَالبَحرِand the sea
تَلَقَّمُ حَيّاتِ الحُزونَةِ وَالبَحرِ
We have a serpent that swoops down from the top of a rock,
We have a snake that darts out of the top of a rock
Devouring the serpents of the rugged terrain and the sea.
It devours the snakes of sadness and the sea
وَقَدand indeed ظَهَرَتappeared لِلتَغلِبِيينَto the Taghlibites حَيَّةٌa serpent
وَقَد ظَهَرَت لِلتَغلِبِيينَ حَيَّةٌ
كَحَيَّةِlike the serpent of مُوسىMoses يَومَon the day أُيِّدَhe was strengthened بِالنَصرِby victory
كَحَيَّةِ مُوسى يَومَ أُيِّدَ بِالنَصرِ
And indeed a serpent has appeared before the Taghlibites,
And a snake has appeared to the conquerors
Like Moses’ serpent on the day he was strengthened by victory.
Like the snake of Moses when he was victorious
