أُضاحِكُI laugh with ضَيفيmy guest قَبلَbefore إِنزالِunloading رَحلهُhis baggage
أُضاحِكُ ضَيفي قَبلَ إِنزالِ رَحلهُ
وَيُخصِبُand he enjoys abundance عِندِيwith me وَالزَمانُwhile the times جَديبُbarren
وَيُخصِبُ عِندِي وَالزَمانُ جَديبُ
I laugh with my guest before his baggage is unloaded.
I make my guest smile before he packs his bags
And he finds plenty with me, though the times are barren.
And he finds fertility with me though the times are barren
وَماand not الخِصبُabundance لِلأَضيافِfor guests أَنthat تُكثِرَyou increase القِرىfood offered to guests
وَما الخِصبُ لِلأَضيافِ أَن تُكثِرَ القِرى
وَلَكِنَّماbut rather وَجهُthe face الكَريمِof the generous person خَصيبُfertile
وَلَكِنَّما وَجهُ الكَريمِ خَصيبُ
Nor is abundance for guests a matter of providing plentiful fare;
Fertility is not for guests to have many homes
Rather, the generous person's face is fertile.
But the face of the generous is fertile
