And a sluggish fellow, sleep at its deepest in his eye,

A soft-voiced mumbler, muddled and listless—

So I told him, “Gather up your clothes and set out,

Or else night travel and scorching noons will get the better of you.”

When the stars of night come to seem

Like fine-bred she-camels emerging into the desert, returning from water—

Its northward stars, except Suhayl, who seems like

A stout camel-stallion departing a herd of dry she-camels, no longer inclined to mate.
