ﻳﺎO ﺟﺮﺣﻬﺎher wound الموﺟﻌﻲthat pains me ﻛﺜﻴﺮاًgreatly:
يا جرحها الموجعي كثيراً:
ﻟﻴﺖwould that ﺿﻠﻮﻋﻲmy ribs ﻛﺎﻧﺖhad been ﻓﺪاءَa ransom
O her wound, which pains me so much:
O her painful wounds so much:
Would that my ribs had been a ransom,
I wish my ribs had been sacrificed
وﻟﻴﺖand would that َأزﻫﺎرَflowers ﻛﻞevery وادٍvalley
ﺧَﻔﱠﺖْhastened إﻟﻰto ﺧﺪﻫﺎher cheek ﺷﻔﺎءa cure!
and would that the flowers of every valley
And I wish the flowers of every valley
had hastened to her cheek as a cure!
Blew softly to her cheek as healing!
وﻳﺎand O دمblood الجرحthe wound: ﻟﺴﺖI am not أدريI know
ممَّاfrom what ﻟﻌﻴﻨﻲﱠto my eyes ﻗﺪhas ﺗﺮاءَىappeared
And O blood of the wound, I cannot tell,
And o blood of the wound: I do not know
from what has appeared to my eyes,
Why has the eye deceived me

Was it the scent that flashed with color
or the rose that has flowed as water.
Or was it the rose that shed water
