وَإِن أَكُ مِن كَعبٍ بِن سَعدٍ فَإِنَني

وَإِن أَكُ مِن كَعبٍ بِن سَعدٍ فَإِنَني

رَضيتُ بِهُم مِن حَيِّ صِدقٍ وَوالِدٍ

رَضيتُ بِهُم مِن حَيِّ صِدقٍ وَوالِدٍ

And if I am of Kaʿb ibn Saʿd, then indeed I

And if I am of Ka'b bin Sa'd then I am

am content with them as a worthy clan and forefather.

Content with them as truthful and devoted folk

وَإِن يَكُ مِن كَعبِ بِن يِشكُرَ مَنصِبي

وَإِن يَكُ مِن كَعبِ بِن يِشكُرَ مَنصِبي

فَإِنَّ أَبانا عامِرٌ ذو المَجاسِدِ

فَإِنَّ أَبانا عامِرٌ ذو المَجاسِدِ

And if my lineage is from Kaʿb ibn Yishkur,

And if my position be from Ka'b bin Yashkur

then our father is indeed ʿĀmir, wearer of saffron-dyed robes.

Then our father was Aamir of great prowess
