بِعِزِّ مَعَدٍّ حينَ عُدَّت مَحاصِلُه
And my uncle donned the two cloaks of Ibn Māʾ al-Muzn,
With the cold of the son of Muzn's water I clothed them both,
Through the honor of Maʿadd, when his merits were counted.
With the honor of Ma'add when his harvests were counted,

وَلَم يَجِدوا في عِزِّهم مَن يُعادِلُه
The nobles among men deemed him the worthiest among them of it,
The nobles of men saw him put first before them,
And found no one in their noble ranks to equal him.
And they did not find in their honor anyone to equal him.

I was bereaved of my father and both sons of Shurayf,
I was pleased with my father and the two noble sons,
And the rider of Dhāt al-ʿUjm, sweet in his ways.
And the horseman of the non-Arabs, his qualities are sweet.
